Linlithgow Bowled Over by Surprise 7s Success

Congratulations to the young squad that came back from the Edinburgh Northern 7s with the Bowl Trophy.  What made the success even more sweet was that the players had all been at the Club Dinner the night before and, if you'd seen them then, it was a miracle they all managed to get to Edinburgh never mind come home with silverware.

A further report will appear later, but for the record the squad was Graham McKenzie (capt), Kenny McKenzie, Colin Blair, Grant Gardner, Matt Dixon, David Goudie, Billy Edment, Andrew McGown, David Mackenzie and Euan Richardson.

Wee Reds Triumph in Border Raid:  P5s victorious for second year!

Linlithgow’s Primary 5s have won the Galashiels Mini Maroons Prostraken 2007 Rugby Tournament.  12 boys (mostly drawn from the squad that won last year’s Primary 4 tournament at the same venue!) travelled to the famous home of Borders’ rugby on Sunday to play what emerged to be some of their finest matches yet against fierce and capable opposition.

In true ‘Wee Reds’ style, Linlithgow took on Galashiels, Selkirk and Kelso in their qualifying matches without conceding a single try against their 17 tries made – indeed, Linlithgow P5’s only conceded one try in the entire tournament - a break away on the start of their semi final match against Langholm.

The Final match, against a first Galashiels team, was won 5 tries to nil and served to prove again Linlithgow P5s ability to produce rugby of a maturity and commitment far beyond their years.
Old Boys Edge Youngsters in Cairns' Season Closer
Led from the front by two-try scoring 'Tubby' Cairns, the over-30s won out over the President's Select - a very youthful under 30s in the season's closer at Mains Park.  With 10 youngsters away at the Edinburgh Northern 7s and with several key injuries, the youngsters were still able to put out a highly competitive team.  The old boys edged to a 2 point half-time lead, before easing away late in the game with some fabulous rugby against a spirited President's team.
