Club History On Tuesday 17th November 1970, Linlithgow Rugby Club, as it is now constituted, came into existence. At a meeting in the Star and Garter Hotel, in front of twenty-one people, the constitution was formally accepted and Linlithgow RFC came into existence. ► Something else that happened that same day! (The initial meeting, that led to the creation of Linlithgow Rugby Club, had been held the month before, also in the Star and Garter Hotel, on Tuesday 13th October 1970.) The first match was played against Currie RFC on Saturday 21st November. It resulted in a 19-3 defeat, with the Linlithgow try (yes, they were only worth 3 points in those days!) being scored by captain John Cotton. This was also one of Currie RFC's first matches - they were formed in the same year and played their first match in October 1970! The Linlithgow team that day was: ► Currie RFC history Strictly speaking, Linlithgow Rugby Club was reformed in 1970, as an earlier incarnation of the club had existed for a short time in the 1920s. It was founded on Wednesday 3rd May 1922, with the first home game being played on 23rd September 1922 against Trinity Academicals at Boghall Park.
